Marvel lays the groundwork for the X-Men’s arrival in the MCU
To me, my X-Men!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to expand, and with the release of Captain America: Brave New World, the first steps are being taken toward the long-awaited arrival of the X-Men. Since Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the inclusion of mutants has been one of the biggest mysteries for fans, and now the wait seems to be coming to an end.
A Link to the Past: Adamantium and the Celestial Island
One of the key elements in this transition is the introduction of adamantium, the indestructible metal that coats Wolverine’s skeleton. This material is revealed in Captain America: Brave New World as a resource found on the so-called Celestial Island, formed from the petrified remains of Tiamut, the massive cosmic being from Eternals. The extraction of this mineral by various world powers creates a new power dynamic within the MCU and paves the way for future mutant-related stories.
A Gradual Approach to the Arrival of the X-Men
According to Nate Moore, producer at Marvel Studios, the plan is to gradually integrate the mutants into the shared universe. Although some characters like Deadpool, Wolverine, and Charles Xavier have already appeared in previous films, they have so far been kept within alternate timelines or realities. Marvel’s intention is to build a coherent narrative that justifies the appearance of the X-Men within the main MCU continuity in the most natural way possible, avoiding an overload of information.

The Future of the MCU and the Arrival of the Mutants
Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, has confirmed that the so-called "Mutant Saga" will officially begin after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, which is expected to be released in theaters (if all goes well) in 2027. This event will mark a turning point for the franchise, giving the X-Men a central role in the series.
Additionally, the coming years will fuel fans' and MCU followers' speculations about which actors will play the main cast. Henry Cavill's appearance as an alternate version of Wolverine in *Deadpool* and *Wolverine*, though presumably a playful nod to fans, also sparked no small amount of excitement about whether we'd see actors of this caliber donning the... yellow... spandex?
With growing anticipation and strategic moves within the franchise, everything points to the arrival of the X-Men being one of the most significant events in the evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
