Elvis Canario
In 2017, on the Cadena Ser radio show, La Vida Moderna, the Spanish comedian Ignatius Farray introduced a new character: Elvis Canario. In a hilarious way, showing off his signature dark humor, he explained the origins of this persona:
Elvis Canario was the stage name of an Elvis Presley impersonator. While singing his songs, he would suddenly have vivid flashes of his son drowning at sea. This traumatic event was, in fact, the reason he dedicated himself to impersonating Elvis Presley; the death of his son drove him mad. Interestingly, the screams he lets out when these memories strike are: “niño! niño!” (boy! boy!), and he never calls him by his name. He shouts “niño!” as if scolding him. At other times he yells “Willy! Willy!” because his father also drowned, and on other occasions he would shout “With lettuce! With tomato!”, because memories of his time as a sandwich vendor would resurface. He could never finish any of the songs he performed because some trauma would always float back mid-imitation.
This video game, therefore, is a tribute to this fictional character created by Ignatius Farray. You step into the shoes of Elvis Canario, who must save hundreds of “niños” and “Willies” from drowning while dodging eggs thrown by rapping turtles, fruit shots from Turkish monkeys, mutant shell stings, and attacks from Cthulhu wearing a beach pimp thong that shoots mini-cthulhus, etc.
Don’t worry though! Every now and then, his friend El Rancius will appear to lend a hand, along with dwarves dressed as bullfighters who will provide juicy items to help you survive this bizarre siege.
