Ignatius Attacks was the very first video game published by Javier Sánchez.
In reality, Ignatius Attacks was a project he had to present to earn his degree at the Arcan Studios school in Granada (Spain), where he completed a course in cross-platform applications.
It wasn’t his initial plan, but due to time constraints, he repurposed several assets developed for a project that was eventually put on standby—one that Surre Games will be bringing to you very soon, so stay tuned!
The "La Vida Moderna" Phenomenon
However, and against all odds, Ignatius Attacks managed to carve out a place in the hearts of Spain’s youth. It gained widespread fame on a popular comedy show on the Cadena Ser network called “La Vida Moderna,” co-hosted by: David Broncano (La Resistencia, La Revuelta); Héctor de Miguel (Hora Veintipico, Héctor de Comer), the comedian better known as Quequé; and Ignatius Farray (The End of Comedy, La Hora Chanante). It was Ignatius himself who saw the game’s trailer on the platform formerly known as Twitter and reached out to Javier Sánchez (the unsuspecting soul behind Surre Games), inviting him onto the show to present the game and engage in a brief, humorous discussion about the world of video games.

What’s the Game About? A Message of Inclusion and Humor
The game’s plot was simple: Pablo Echenique (born in Rosario, Argentina; former Organization Secretary of the Podemos party), a politician with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and a fantastic sense of humor—he even tweeted that he loved Ignatius Attacks—faces off against an army of Ignatius Farray heads that attack by firing his signature “silent scream” at him. To combat them, Echenique pilots a space-age wheelchair equipped with a weapon that fires repurposed rockets from the USSR.
The game is packed with references to the Second Spanish Republic; for instance, the life icons are hearts decked out in the colors of the Republican flag (1931-1939).
The choice of Echenique as the protagonist was also born from Javier Sánchez’s commitment to raising awareness for the disabled community—proving that with creativity and a great attitude toward life, anyone is capable of achieving great things.
